How To Install ratpoison on Ubuntu 18.04

on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is ratpoison
ratpoison is:
ratpoison is a simple window manager with no fancy graphics, no window decorations, and no rodent dependence. It is largely modelled after GNU Screen.
The screen can be split into non-overlapping frames. All windows are kept maximized inside their frames to take full advantage of your precious screen real estate.
All interaction with the window manager is done through keystrokes. ratpoison has a prefix map to minimize key clobbering.
There are three methods to install ratpoison
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ratpoison Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ratpoison
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ratpoison
Install ratpoison Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ratpoison
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ratpoison
Install ratpoison Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ratpoison
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ratpoison
How To Uninstall ratpoison on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the ratpoison
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ratpoison
Uninstall ratpoison And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ratpoison
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ratpoison
Remove ratpoison Configurations and Data
To remove ratpoison
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ratpoison
Remove ratpoison configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ratpoison
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
