How To Install rarpd on Ubuntu 18.04

What is rarpd

rarpd is:

RARP is a protocol which allows individual devices on a network to get their IP addresses assigned based on their MAC addresses.

You have use of this daemon only if you have on your local network machines like diskless Sun boxes, or other netbooting devices.

There are three methods to install rarpd on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install rarpd Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install rarpd using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install rarpd

Install rarpd Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install rarpd using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install rarpd

Install rarpd Using aptitude

sudo apt-get -y autoremove rarpd

Remove rarpd Configurations and Data

To remove rarpd configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge rarpd
