In this tutorial we learn how to install quota-nld on CentOS 7.

What is quota-nld

Daemon that listens on netlink socket and processes received quota warnings. Note, that you have to enable the kernel support for sending quota messages over netlink (in Filesystems->Quota menu). The daemon supports forwarding warning messages to the system D-Bus (so that desktop manager can display a dialog) and writing them to the terminal user has last accessed.

We can use yum or dnf to install quota-nld on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install quota-nld.

Install quota-nld on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install quota-nld using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install quota-nld

Install quota-nld on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install quota-nld using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install quota-nld

How To Uninstall quota-nld on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the quota-nld package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove quota-nld
