How To Install quassel on Ubuntu 18.04

What is quassel
quassel is:
Quassel is a modern, cross-platform, distributed IRC client, meaning that one or more clients can attach to and detach from the central core. It’s much like the popular combination of screen and a text-based IRC client such as WeeChat or irssi, but graphical.
This package provides the monolithic client. It contains both core and client and can be used like a traditional IRC client, without requiring an external core.
There are three methods to install quassel
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install quassel Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install quassel
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install quassel

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install quassel
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install quassel
Install quassel Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install quassel

How To Uninstall quassel on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the quassel
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove quassel

and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove quassel
Remove quassel Configurations and Data
To remove quassel
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge quassel
