What is quagga-ripd

quagga-ripd is:

GNU Quagga is free software which manages TCP/IP based routing protocols. It supports BGP4, BGP4+, OSPFv2, OSPFv3, IS-IS, RIPv1, RIPv2, and RIPng as well as the IPv6 versions of these.

This package contains the RIPv1/RIPv2 routing daemon.

There are three methods to install quagga-ripd on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install quagga-ripd Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install quagga-ripd using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install quagga-ripd

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install quagga-ripd using apt by running the following command:
