How To Install qla-tools on Ubuntu 18.04

What is qla-tools
qla-tools is:
QLogic provides some tools that makes LUN handling (add / remove) and administration of QLogic HBAs much easier. You can scan for newly added LUNs, display details about the QLogic HBA attached to the system, change the state of LUNs from offline to online/running and set the timeout on the devices connected to the QLogic FC HBA.
There are three methods to install qla-tools
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install qla-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install qla-tools
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install qla-tools

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install qla-tools
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install qla-tools
Install qla-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install qla-tools
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install qla-tools
How To Uninstall qla-tools on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the qla-tools
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove qla-tools
Uninstall qla-tools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall qla-tools
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove qla-tools
Remove qla-tools Configurations and Data
To remove qla-tools
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge qla-tools
Remove qla-tools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove qla-tools
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge qla-tools
