How To Install qemu-system-arm on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install qemu-system-arm on Kali Linux.
What is qemu-system-arm
qemu-system-arm is:
QEMU is a fast processor emulator: currently the package supports ARM emulation. By using dynamic translation it achieves reasonable speed while being easy to port on new host CPUs.
This package provides the full system emulation binaries to emulate the following arm hardware: aarch64 arm.
In system emulation mode QEMU emulates a full system, including a processor and various peripherals. It enables easier testing and debugging of system code. It can also be used to provide virtual hosting of several virtual machines on a single server.
There are three methods to install qemu-system-arm on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install qemu-system-arm Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install qemu-system-arm using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install qemu-system-armInstall qemu-system-arm Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install qemu-system-arm using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install qemu-system-armInstall qemu-system-arm Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install qemu-system-arm using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install qemu-system-armHow To Uninstall qemu-system-arm on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the qemu-system-arm package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove qemu-system-armUninstall qemu-system-arm And Its Dependencies
To uninstall qemu-system-arm and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove qemu-system-armRemove qemu-system-arm Configurations and Data
To remove qemu-system-arm configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge qemu-system-armRemove qemu-system-arm configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
