How To Install pytz on CentOS 7

In this tutorial we learn how to install pytz on CentOS 7.
What is pytz
pytz brings the Olson tz database into Python. This library allows accurate and cross platform timezone calculations using Python 2.3 or higher. It also solves the issue of ambiguous times at the end of daylight savings, which you can read more about in the Python Library Reference (datetime.tzinfo). Amost all (over 540) of the Olson timezones are supported.
We can use yum or dnf to install pytz on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install pytz.
Install pytz on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install pytz using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install pytz
Install pytz on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install pytz using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install pytz
How To Uninstall pytz on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the pytz package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove pytz
