What is python3-secretstorage
This module provides a way for securely storing passwords and other secrets. It uses D-Bus Secret Service API that is supported by GNOME Keyring (>= 2.30) and KSecretsService. The main classes provided are secretstorage.Item, representing a secret item (that has a label, a secret and some attributes) and secretstorage.Collection, a place items are stored in. SecretStorage supports most of the functions provided by Secret Service, including creating and deleting items and collections, editing items, locking and unlocking collections (asynchronous unlocking is also supported).
We can use yum or dnf to install python3-secretstorage on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install python3-secretstorage.
Install python3-secretstorage on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install python3-secretstorage using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install python3-secretstorage
Install python3-secretstorage on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install python3-secretstorage using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install python3-secretstorage
How To Uninstall python3-secretstorage on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the python3-secretstorage package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove python3-secretstorage
