What is python3-importlib-metadata
importlib_metadata is a library which provides an API for accessing an installed package’s metadata, such as its entry points or its top-level name. This functionality intends to replace most uses of pkg_resources entry point API and metadata API. Along with importlib.resources in Python 3.7 and newer (backported as importlib_resources for older versions of Python), this can eliminate the need to use the older and less efficient pkg_resources package.
We can use yum or dnf to install python3-importlib-metadata on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install python3-importlib-metadata.
Install python3-importlib-metadata on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install python3-importlib-metadata using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install python3-importlib-metadata
Install python3-importlib-metadata on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install python3-importlib-metadata using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install python3-importlib-metadata
How To Uninstall python3-importlib-metadata on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the python3-importlib-metadata package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove python3-importlib-metadata
