What is python3-idna
A library to support the Internationalised Domain Names in Applications (IDNA) protocol as specified in RFC 5891 <http version of the protocol is often referred to as “IDNA2008” and can produce different results from the earlier standard from 2003. The library is also intended to act as a suitable drop-in replacement for the “encodings.idna” module that comes with the Python standard library but currently only supports the older 2003 specification.
We can use yum or dnf to install python3-idna on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install python3-idna.
Install python3-idna on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install python3-idna using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install python3-idna
Install python3-idna on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install python3-idna using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install python3-idna
How To Uninstall python3-idna on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the python3-idna package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove python3-idna
