How To Install python3-fastcluster on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install python3-fastcluster on Ubuntu 18.04. python3-fastcluster is Fast hierarchical clustering routines for Python 3

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install python3-fastcluster on Ubuntu 18.04.

What is python3-fastcluster

python3-fastcluster is:

This library provides Python functions for hierarchical clustering. It generates hierarchical clusters from distance matrices or from vector data.

Part of this module is intended to replace the functions

linkage, single, complete, average, weighted, centroid, median, ward

in the module scipy.cluster.hierarchy with the same functionality but much faster algorithms. Moreover, the function ’linkage_vector' provides memory-efficient clustering for vector data.

The interface is very similar to MATLAB’s Statistics Toolbox API to make code easier to port from MATLAB to Python/Numpy. The core implementation of this library is in C++ for efficiency.

This package provides the package’s Python 3 interface.

There are three methods to install python3-fastcluster on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install python3-fastcluster Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install python3-fastcluster using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install python3-fastcluster

Install python3-fastcluster Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install python3-fastcluster using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install python3-fastcluster

Install python3-fastcluster Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install python3-fastcluster using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install python3-fastcluster

How To Uninstall python3-fastcluster on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the python3-fastcluster package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove python3-fastcluster

Uninstall python3-fastcluster And Its Dependencies

To uninstall python3-fastcluster and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove python3-fastcluster

Remove python3-fastcluster Configurations and Data

To remove python3-fastcluster configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge python3-fastcluster

Remove python3-fastcluster configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove python3-fastcluster configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python3-fastcluster
