on Debian 10.
What is python3-elasticsearch
python3-elasticsearch is:
Official low-level client for Elasticsearch. Its goal is to provide common ground for all Elasticsearch-related code in Python; because of this it tries to be opinion-free and very extendable.
The client’s features include:
- translating basic Python data types to and from json (datetimes are not decoded for performance reasons)
- configurable automatic discovery of cluster nodes
- persistent connections
- load balancing (with pluggable selection strategy) across all available nodes
- failed connection penalization (time based - failed connections won’t be retried until a timeout is reached)
- thread safety
- pluggable architecture
This package contains the Python 3 version of the library.
There are three methods to install python3-elasticsearch
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python3-elasticsearch
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install python3-elasticsearch
How To Uninstall python3-elasticsearch on Debian 10
To uninstall only the python3-elasticsearch
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python3-elasticsearch
Uninstall python3-elasticsearch And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python3-elasticsearch
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python3-elasticsearch
