The casacore package contains the core libraries of the old AIPS++/CASA package. This split was made to get a better separation of core libraries and applications. CASA is now built on top of casacore.
This is the Python 3 wrapper around the library.

To uninstall only the python3-casacore package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python3-casacore

To uninstall python3-casacore and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python3-casacore
Remove python3-casacore Configurations and Data
To remove python3-casacore configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python3-casacore
