In this tutorial we learn how to install python2-astroid on CentOS 7.

What is python2-astroid

The aim of this module is to provide a common base representation of python source code for projects such as pychecker, pyreverse, pylint… It provides a compatible representation which comes from the _ast module. It rebuilds the tree generated by the builtin _ast module by recursively walking down the AST and building an extended ast. The new node classes have additional methods and attributes for different usages. They include some support for static inference and local name scopes. Furthermore, astroid builds partial trees by inspecting living objects. This package provides the Python 2 implementation.

We can use yum or dnf to install python2-astroid on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install python2-astroid.

Install python2-astroid on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install python2-astroid using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install python2-astroid

Install python2-astroid on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install python2-astroid using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install python2-astroid

How To Uninstall python2-astroid on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the python2-astroid package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove python2-astroid
