What is python-xkcd
python-xkcd is:
This is a Python library for accessing and retrieving links to comics from the xkcd webcomic by Randall Munroe. It is NOT endorsed or made by him, it??s an entirely independent project.
It makes use of the JSON interface to Randall??s site to retrieve comic data.
One can create comic objects manually using Comic(number), or can use the helper functions provided- getLatestComic(), getRandomComic(), and getComic()- to do this. Once you have a Comic object, you can access data from it using various provided methods.
This is the Python 2 version of the package.
There are three methods to install python-xkcd
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-xkcd Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-xkcd
using apt-get

After updating apt database, We can install python-xkcd
using aptitude

How To Uninstall python-xkcd on Debian 9
To uninstall only the python-xkcd
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-xkcd
Uninstall python-xkcd And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-xkcd
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-xkcd
Remove python-xkcd Configurations and Data
To remove python-xkcd
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-xkcd
Remove python-xkcd configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
