What is python-testtools
python-testtools is:
testtools (formerly pyunit3k) is a set of extensions to the Python standard library’s unit testing framework. These extensions have been derived from years of experience with unit testing in Python and come from many different sources. It’s hoped that these extensions will make their way into the standard library eventually. Also included are backports from Python trunk of unittest features that are not otherwise available to existing unittest users.
This package contains the libraries for Python 2.x.
There are three methods to install python-testtools
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get

and aptitude

Install python-testtools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-testtools
using apt-get

sudo apt-get -y install python-testtools

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-testtools
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-testtools
Install python-testtools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-testtools
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-testtools
How To Uninstall python-testtools on Debian 9
To uninstall only the python-testtools
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-testtools
Uninstall python-testtools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-testtools
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-testtools
Remove python-testtools Configurations and Data
To remove python-testtools
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-testtools
