Resque is a great implementation of a job queue by the people at github. It’s written in ruby, which is great, but I primarily work in python. So I took on the task of porting over the code to python and PyRes was the result

Project Goals

Because of some differences between ruby and python, there are a couple of places where I chose speed over correctness. The goal will be to eventually take the application and make it more pythonic without sacrificing the awesome functionality found in resque. At the same time, I hope to stay within the bounds of the original api and web interface.

There are three methods to install python-pyres on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install python-pyres Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install python-pyres using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install python-pyres

Install python-pyres Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install python-pyres using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install python-pyres

Install python-pyres Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install python-pyres using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install python-pyres

How To Uninstall python-pyres on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the python-pyres package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove python-pyres

Uninstall python-pyres And Its Dependencies

To uninstall python-pyres and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-pyres

Remove python-pyres Configurations and Data

To remove python-pyres configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge python-pyres

Remove python-pyres configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove python-pyres configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-pyres
