What is python-pygtail

python-pygtail is:

Pygtail reads log file lines that have not been read. It will even handle log files that have been rotated.

This has similar functionality to the logtail2 tool (which can be found in the logtail package).

This package contains the Python 2 library.

There are three methods to install python-pygtail on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install python-pygtail Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install python-pygtail using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install python-pygtail

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
