What is python-plplot
python-plplot is:
PLplot is relatively small, portable, freely distributable, and is rich enough to satisfy most users. It has a wide range of plot types including line (linear, log), contour, 3D, fill, and almost 1000 characters (including Greek and mathematical) in its extended font set. The package is designed to make it easy to quickly get graphical output; only a handful of function calls is typically required. For more advanced use, virtually all aspects of plotting are configurable.
This package contains the library plmodule.so for gluing the PLplot scientific plotting library into Python applications. Examples are also provided.
There are three methods to install python-plplot on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-plplot Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-plplot using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-plplot
Install python-plplot Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-plplot using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-plplot
Install python-plplot Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
