How To Install python-pkg-resources on Ubuntu 18.04

What is python-pkg-resources
python-pkg-resources is:
The pkg_resources module provides an API for Python libraries to access their resource files, and for extensible applications and frameworks to automatically discover plugins. It also provides runtime support for using C extensions that are inside zipfile-format eggs, support for merging packages that have separately-distributed modules or subpackages, and APIs for managing Python’s current “working set” of active packages.
There are three methods to install python-pkg-resources on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-pkg-resources Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-pkg-resources using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-pkg-resources
Install python-pkg-resources Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-pkg-resources using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-pkg-resources
Install python-pkg-resources Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-pkg-resources using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-pkg-resources
How To Uninstall python-pkg-resources on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the python-pkg-resources package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-pkg-resources
Uninstall python-pkg-resources And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-pkg-resources and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-pkg-resources
Remove python-pkg-resources Configurations and Data
To remove python-pkg-resources configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-pkg-resources
Remove python-pkg-resources configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python-pkg-resources configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-pkg-resources
