What is python-pgpdump
python-pgpdump is:
python-pgpdump is a Python library for parsing PGP packets as specified in RFC2440 and RFC4880. It is derived from pgpdump, a C program published at: http://www.mew.org/~kazu/proj/pgpdump/ The intent is to support what people actually have to do with PGP packets 95% of the time. This module does not aim to be a complete PGP parser, as it currently does not decode every PGP packet type. Currently supported things include:
- Signature packets
- Public key packets
- ASCII-armor decoding and CRC check
A single codebase with dependencies on only the standard Python library is compatible across Python 2.7, Python 3.2, and PyPy 1.8.
This is the Python 2 version of the package.
There are three methods to install python-pgpdump on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-pgpdump Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-pgpdump using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-pgpdump
Install python-pgpdump Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-pgpdump using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-pgpdump
Install python-pgpdump Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-pgpdump using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-pgpdump
How To Uninstall python-pgpdump on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the python-pgpdump package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-pgpdump
Uninstall python-pgpdump And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-pgpdump and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-pgpdump
Remove python-pgpdump Configurations and Data
To remove python-pgpdump configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-pgpdump
Remove python-pgpdump configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python-pgpdump configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-pgpdump
