How To Install python-passfd on Debian 10

In this tutorial we learn how to install python-passfd
on Debian 10.
What is python-passfd
python-passfd is:
This simple extension provides two functions to pass and receive file descriptors across UNIX domain sockets, using the BSD-4.3+ sendmsg() and recvmsg() interfaces.
Direct bindings to sendmsg and recvmsg are not provided, as the API does not map nicely into Python.
Please note that this only supports BSD-4.3+ style file descriptor passing, and was only tested on Linux.
There are three methods to install python-passfd
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-passfd Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get

sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-passfd
using apt-get

After updating apt database, We can install python-passfd

Install python-passfd Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-passfd
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-passfd
How To Uninstall python-passfd on Debian 10
To uninstall only the python-passfd
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-passfd
Uninstall python-passfd And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-passfd
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-passfd
Remove python-passfd Configurations and Data
To remove python-passfd
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-passfd
