This code provides a client class which enable applications to connect to an MQTT broker to publish messages, and to subscribe to topics and receive published messages. It also provides some helper functions to make publishing one off messages to an MQTT server very straightforward.
The MQTT protocol is a machine-to-machine (M2M)/”Internet of Things” connectivity protocol. Designed as an extremely lightweight publish/ subscribe messaging transport, it is useful for connections with remote locations where a small code footprint is required and/or network bandwidth is at a premium.

There are three methods to install python-paho-mqtt on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-paho-mqtt Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-paho-mqtt using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-paho-mqtt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-paho-mqtt using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-paho-mqtt

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-paho-mqtt using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-paho-mqtt
How To Uninstall python-paho-mqtt on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the python-paho-mqtt package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-paho-mqtt
Uninstall python-paho-mqtt And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-paho-mqtt and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-paho-mqtt
Remove python-paho-mqtt Configurations and Data
To remove python-paho-mqtt configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-paho-mqtt
Remove python-paho-mqtt configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python-paho-mqtt configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-paho-mqtt
