How To Install python-openvswitch on Debian 9

What is python-openvswitch
python-openvswitch is:
Open vSwitch is a production quality, multilayer, software-based, Ethernet virtual switch. It is designed to enable massive network automation through programmatic extension, while still supporting standard management interfaces and protocols (e.g. NetFlow, IPFIX, sFlow, SPAN, RSPAN, CLI, LACP, 802.1ag). In addition, it is designed to support distribution across multiple physical servers similar to VMware’s vNetwork distributed vswitch or Cisco’s Nexus 1000V.
This package contains the full Python bindings for Open vSwitch database.
There are three methods to install python-openvswitch on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-openvswitch Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-openvswitch using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-openvswitch
Install python-openvswitch Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-openvswitch using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-openvswitch
Install python-openvswitch Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-openvswitch using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-openvswitch
How To Uninstall python-openvswitch on Debian 9
To uninstall only the python-openvswitch package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-openvswitch
Uninstall python-openvswitch And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-openvswitch and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-openvswitch
Remove python-openvswitch Configurations and Data
To remove python-openvswitch configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-openvswitch
Remove python-openvswitch configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python-openvswitch configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-openvswitch
