This project provides a mock replacement for python-ldap. It’s useful for any project that would like to write unit tests against LDAP code without relying on a running LDAP server.
The goal of mockldap is to provide a mock instance of LDAPObject in response to any call to ldap.initialize. In the general case, you would register return values for all LDAPObject calls that you expect the code under test to make. Your assertions would then verify that the tested code behaved correctly given this set of return values from the LDAP APIs.
As a convenience, the mock LDAPObject isn’t just a dumb mock object. The typical way to use mockldap is to provide some static directory content and then let LDAPObject generate real return values. This will only work for simple LDAP operations–this obviously isn’t a complete Python LDAP server implementation–but those simple operations tend to cover a lot of cases.
This package contains the Python 2 version of the library.
There are three methods to install python-mockldap on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-mockldap Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-mockldap using apt-get by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-mockldap using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-mockldap
How To Uninstall python-mockldap on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the python-mockldap package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-mockldap
Uninstall python-mockldap And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-mockldap and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-mockldap
Remove python-mockldap Configurations and Data
To remove python-mockldap configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-mockldap
Remove python-mockldap configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
