How To Install python-mipp on Debian 9
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install python-mipp
on Debian 9.
What is python-mipp
python-mipp is:
It’s main task is to convert low level satellite data into a format understood by mpop (http://github.com/mraspaud/mpop). The primary purpose is to support Geostationary satellite data (level 1.5) but there is also support for the reading of some polar orbiting SAR data.
A more sophisticated interface to satellite data objects is supported by mpop.
Currently it handles data from all current Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) satellites, Meteosat 7, GOES 11-15, MTSAT’s, and GOMS, all a retrieved via EUMETCast.
In addition mipp handles Synthetic Apperture Radar (SAR) data from Terrscan-X, Cosmo-Sky Med, and Radarsat 2.
This package is part of the PyTroll toolset.
There are three methods to install python-mipp
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-mipp Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-mipp
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-mipp
Install python-mipp Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-mipp
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-mipp
Install python-mipp Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-mipp
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-mipp
How To Uninstall python-mipp on Debian 9
To uninstall only the python-mipp
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-mipp
Uninstall python-mipp And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-mipp
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-mipp
Remove python-mipp Configurations and Data
To remove python-mipp
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-mipp
Remove python-mipp configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python-mipp
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-mipp
