What is python-mido

python-mido is:

Python module for working with convenient messages objects, it has full support for the 18 messages defined by the MIDI standard. Mido brings support for MIDI files (read, write, create and play) with complete access to every message in the file, including all common meta messages. Implements MIDI over TCP/IP with socket ports, allowing wireless MIDI between two computers. Also includes programs for playing MIDI files, listing ports and serving and forwarding ports over a network.

There are three methods to install python-mido on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install python-mido Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install python-mido using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install python-mido

Install python-mido Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install python-mido using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install python-mido

Install python-mido Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install python-mido using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install python-mido

How To Uninstall python-mido on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the python-mido package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove python-mido

Uninstall python-mido And Its Dependencies

To uninstall python-mido and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-mido

Remove python-mido Configurations and Data

To remove python-mido configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge python-mido

Remove python-mido configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove python-mido configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-mido
