What is python-mechanize

python-mechanize is:

A library for browsing the web in Python. Mechanize acts like a browser allowing you to do web scraping, functional testing of web sites and things no one has thought of yet.

  • Fills in HTML forms
  • Automatically observes robots.txt
  • Has a browser history

It was modelled after the Perl module WWW::Mechanize.

There are three methods to install python-mechanize on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install python-mechanize Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install python-mechanize using apt-get by running the following command:
