What is python-markdown
python-markdown is:
Markdown is a text-to-HTML conversion tool for web writers. Markdown allows you to write using an easy-to-read, easy-to-write plain text format, then convert it to structurally valid XHTML (or HTML).
This is a Python implementation of John Gruber’s Markdown. The current version of python-markdown implements all Markdown syntax features and fully passes Markdown Test Suite 1.0. It also supports footnotes and attributes.
This package contains all the files needed to use Markdown with Python 2.x, and the /usr/bin/markdown_py command-line tool (provided for compatibility purposes).
There are three methods to install python-markdown
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude

sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-markdown
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-markdown
How To Uninstall python-markdown on Debian 10
To uninstall only the python-markdown
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-markdown
Uninstall python-markdown And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-markdown
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-markdown
Remove python-markdown Configurations and Data
To remove python-markdown
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-markdown
