How To Install python-lzo on Debian 9

LZO is a portable lossless data compression library written in ANSI C. It offers pretty fast compression and very fast decompression. Decompression requires no memory.
In addition there are slower compression levels achieving a quite competitive compression ratio while still decompressing at this very high speed.
There are three methods to install python-lzo on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-lzo Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-lzo using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-lzo

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install python-lzo using apt by running the following command:

Install python-lzo Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install python-lzo using aptitude by running the following command:

How To Uninstall python-lzo on Debian 9
To uninstall only the python-lzo package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-lzo

To uninstall python-lzo and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-lzo
Remove python-lzo Configurations and Data
To remove python-lzo configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-lzo
