What is python-kerberos

This Python package is a high-level wrapper for Kerberos (GSSAPI) operations. The goal is to avoid having to build a module that wraps the entire Kerberos.framework, and instead offer a limited set of functions that do what is needed for client/server Kerberos authentication based on http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4559.txt.

Much of the C-code here is adapted from Apache’s mod_auth_kerb-5.0rc7.

This package contains the Python 2.x module.

There are three methods to install python-kerberos on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install python-kerberos Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install python-kerberos using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install python-kerberos

Install python-kerberos Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install python-kerberos using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install python-kerberos

Install python-kerberos Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install python-kerberos using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install python-kerberos

How To Uninstall python-kerberos on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the python-kerberos package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove python-kerberos

Uninstall python-kerberos And Its Dependencies

To uninstall python-kerberos and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-kerberos

Remove python-kerberos Configurations and Data

To remove python-kerberos configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge python-kerberos

Remove python-kerberos configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove python-kerberos configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-kerberos
