What is python-ironicclient
python-ironicclient is:
Ironic provision bare metal machines instead of virtual machines. It is a fork of the Nova Baremetal driver. It is best thought of as a bare metal hypervisor API and a set of plugins which interact with the bare metal hypervisors. By default, it will use PXE and IPMI in concert to provision and turn on/off machines, but Ironic also supports vendor-specific plugins which may implement additional functionality.
This is a client for the OpenStack Ironic API. There’s a Python API (the “ironicclient” module), and a command-line script (“ironic”).
Installing this package gets you a shell command, that you can use to interact with Ironic’s API.
This package provides the Python 2.7 support.
There are three methods to install python-ironicclient on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-ironicclient Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-ironicclient using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-ironicclient
Install python-ironicclient Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-ironicclient using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-ironicclient
Install python-ironicclient Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-ironicclient using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-ironicclient
How To Uninstall python-ironicclient on Debian 9
To uninstall only the python-ironicclient package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-ironicclient
Uninstall python-ironicclient And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-ironicclient and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-ironicclient
Remove python-ironicclient Configurations and Data
To remove python-ironicclient configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-ironicclient
Remove python-ironicclient configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python-ironicclient configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-ironicclient
