What is python-ipaddr
python-ipaddr is:
This library is used to create/poke/manipulate IPv4 and IPv6 addresses and networks in Python. It is intended to be fast and lightweight.
This is a pure Python implementation of classes for IPv4/6 addresses and networks. It supports comparisons to determine if IP addresses are contained inside a defined network, conversion of lists of IP addresses into compact CIDR lists, and other IP address manipulation.
This module was incorporated into python3.3 and later as ipaddress. A direct backport of ipaddress is available in Debian as python-ipaddress. There are incompatibilies between the two, so both are provided.
There are three methods to install python-ipaddr on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-ipaddr Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-ipaddr using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-ipaddr
Install python-ipaddr Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-ipaddr using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-ipaddr
Install python-ipaddr Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-ipaddr using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-ipaddr
How To Uninstall python-ipaddr on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the python-ipaddr package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-ipaddr
Uninstall python-ipaddr And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-ipaddr and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-ipaddr
Remove python-ipaddr Configurations and Data
To remove python-ipaddr configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-ipaddr
Remove python-ipaddr configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python-ipaddr configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-ipaddr
