How To Install python-hl7 on Ubuntu 18.04

What is python-hl7
python-hl7 is:
HL7 is a communication protocol and message format for health care data. It is the de-facto standard for transmitting data between clinical information systems and between clinical devices. The version 2.x series, which is often is a pipe delimited format is currently the most widely accepted version of HL7 (version 3.0 is an XML-based format). python-hl7 currently only parses HL7 version 2.x messages into an easy to access, list-based, data structure.
There are three methods to install python-hl7 on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-hl7 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-hl7 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-hl7
Install python-hl7 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-hl7 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-hl7
Install python-hl7 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-hl7 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-hl7
How To Uninstall python-hl7 on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the python-hl7 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-hl7
Uninstall python-hl7 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-hl7 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-hl7
Remove python-hl7 Configurations and Data
To remove python-hl7 configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-hl7
Remove python-hl7 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python-hl7 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-hl7
