In this tutorial we learn how to install python-flask on CentOS 7.

What is python-flask

Flask is called a “micro-framework” because the idea to keep the core simple but extensible. There is no database abstraction layer, no form validation or anything else where different libraries already exist that can handle that. However Flask knows the concept of extensions that can add this functionality into your application as if it was implemented in Flask itself. There are currently extensions for object relational mappers, form validation, upload handling, various open authentication technologies and more.

We can use yum or dnf to install python-flask on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install python-flask.

Install python-flask on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install python-flask using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install python-flask

Install python-flask on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install python-flask using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install python-flask

How To Uninstall python-flask on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the python-flask package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove python-flask
