What is python-elasticsearch

Low level client for Elasticsearch. It’s goal is to provide common ground for all Elasticsearch-related code in Python. The client’s features include - Translating basic Python data types to and from json - Configurable automatic discovery of cluster nodes - Persistent connections - Load balancing (with pluggable selection strategy) across all available nodes - Failed connection penalization (time based - failed connections won’t be retried until a timeout is reached) - Thread safety - Pluggable architecture

We can use yum or dnf to install python-elasticsearch on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install python-elasticsearch.

Install python-elasticsearch on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install python-elasticsearch using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install python-elasticsearch

Install python-elasticsearch on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install python-elasticsearch using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install python-elasticsearch

How To Uninstall python-elasticsearch on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the python-elasticsearch package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove python-elasticsearch
