How To Install python-brian on Ubuntu 18.04

What is python-brian
python-brian is:
Brian is a clock-driven simulator for spiking neural networks. It is designed with an emphasis on flexibility and extensibility, for rapid development and refinement of neural models. Neuron models are specified by sets of user-specified differential equations, threshold conditions and reset conditions (given as strings). The focus is primarily on networks of single compartment neuron models (e.g. leaky integrate-and-fire or Hodgkin-Huxley type neurons). Features include:
- a system for specifying quantities with physical dimensions
- exact numerical integration for linear differential equations
- Euler, Runge-Kutta and exponential Euler integration for nonlinear differential equations
- synaptic connections with delays
- short-term and long-term plasticity (spike-timing dependent plasticity)
- a library of standard model components, including integrate-and-fire equations, synapses and ionic currents
- a toolbox for automatically fitting spiking neuron models to electrophysiological recordings
There are three methods to install python-brian on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-brian Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-brian using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-brian
Install python-brian Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-brian using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-brian
Install python-brian Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-brian using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-brian
How To Uninstall python-brian on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the python-brian package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-brian
Uninstall python-brian And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-brian and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-brian
Remove python-brian Configurations and Data
To remove python-brian configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-brian
Remove python-brian configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python-brian configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
