How To Install python-aff4 on Ubuntu 18.04

python-aff4 is:
The Advanced Forensics File format 4 was originally designed and published in “Extending the advanced forensic format to accommodate multiple data sources, logical evidence, arbitrary information and forensic workflow” M.I. Cohen, Simson Garfinkel and Bradley Schatz, digital investigation 6 (2009) S57–S68.
The format is an open source format used for the storage of digital evidence and data.
This package contains Python 2 bindings.
There are three methods to install python-aff4 on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install python-aff4 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install python-aff4 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install python-aff4

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install python-aff4 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install python-aff4
Install python-aff4 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install python-aff4 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install python-aff4
How To Uninstall python-aff4 on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the python-aff4 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove python-aff4
Uninstall python-aff4 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall python-aff4 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove python-aff4
Remove python-aff4 Configurations and Data
To remove python-aff4 configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge python-aff4
Remove python-aff4 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove python-aff4 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge python-aff4
