How To Install pypy-idna on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install pypy-idna
on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is pypy-idna
pypy-idna is:
A library to support the Internationalised Domain Names in Applications (IDNA) protocol as specified in RFC 5891. This version of the protocol is often referred to as “IDNA2008” and can produce different results from the earlier standard from 2003.
The library is also intended to act as a suitable drop-in replacement for the “encodings.idna” module that comes with the Python standard library but currently only supports the older 2003 specification.
This package contains the module for PyPy.
There are three methods to install pypy-idna
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install pypy-idna Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pypy-idna
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pypy-idna
Install pypy-idna Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install pypy-idna
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install pypy-idna
Install pypy-idna Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pypy-idna
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pypy-idna
How To Uninstall pypy-idna on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the pypy-idna
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pypy-idna
Uninstall pypy-idna And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pypy-idna
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pypy-idna
Remove pypy-idna Configurations and Data
To remove pypy-idna
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pypy-idna
Remove pypy-idna configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove pypy-idna
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge pypy-idna
