How To Install pybind11-dev on Debian 12

What is pybind11-dev
pybind11-dev is:
pybind11 is a lightweight header library that exposes C++ types in Python and vice versa, mainly to create Python bindings of existing C++ code. Its goals and syntax are similar to the excellent Boost.Python library by David Abrahams: to minimize boilerplate code in traditional extension modules by inferring type information using compile-time introspection.
This package provides the header-only library.
There are three methods to install pybind11-dev
on Debian 12. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude

Install pybind11-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install pybind11-dev
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install pybind11-dev

After updating apt database, We can install pybind11-dev

Install pybind11-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install pybind11-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install pybind11-dev
How To Uninstall pybind11-dev on Debian 12
To uninstall only the pybind11-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove pybind11-dev
Uninstall pybind11-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall pybind11-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove pybind11-dev
Remove pybind11-dev Configurations and Data
To remove pybind11-dev
configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge pybind11-dev
