What is purple-sipe

A third-party plugin for the Pidgin multi-protocol instant messenger. It implements the extended version of SIP/SIMPLE used by various products * Skype for Business * Microsoft Office 365 * Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS) * Microsoft Lync Server * Microsoft Lync Server 2010 * Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS 2007/2007 R2) * Microsoft Live Communications Server (LCS 2003/2005) * Reuters Messaging This package provides the protocol plugin for libpurple clients.

We can use yum or dnf to install purple-sipe on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install purple-sipe.

Install purple-sipe on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install purple-sipe using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install purple-sipe

Install purple-sipe on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install purple-sipe using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install purple-sipe

How To Uninstall purple-sipe on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the purple-sipe package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove purple-sipe
