How To Install puppet-master on Ubuntu 18.04

What is puppet-master
puppet-master is:
Puppet is a configuration management system that allows you to define the state of your IT infrastructure, then automatically enforces the correct state.
This package contains the “puppet-master” service and init script, which is suitable for small deployments. For larger deployments or if you wish to support Puppet 3 clients, puppet-master-passenger should be used instead.
There are three methods to install puppet-master on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install puppet-master Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install puppet-master using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install puppet-master
Install puppet-master Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install puppet-master using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install puppet-master
Install puppet-master Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install puppet-master using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install puppet-master
How To Uninstall puppet-master on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the puppet-master package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove puppet-master
Uninstall puppet-master And Its Dependencies
To uninstall puppet-master and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove puppet-master
Remove puppet-master Configurations and Data
To remove puppet-master configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge puppet-master
Remove puppet-master configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove puppet-master configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge puppet-master
