How To Install psutils on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install psutils on Kali Linux.

What is psutils

psutils is:

This collection of utilities is for manipulating PostScript documents. Page selection and rearrangement are supported, including arrangement into signatures for booklet printing, and page merging for n-up printing.

The following programs are included in psutils: epsffit, extractres, fixdlsrps, fixfmps, fixmacps, fixpsditps, fixpspps, fixscribeps, fixtpps, fixwfwps, fixwpps, fixwwps, getafm, includeres, psbook, psmerge, psnup, psresize, psselect, pstops, showchar

Some programs included here (psmerge) behave differently if gs is available, but all programs work without it.

There are three methods to install psutils on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install psutils Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install psutils using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install psutils

Install psutils Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install psutils using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install psutils

Install psutils Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install psutils using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install psutils

How To Uninstall psutils on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the psutils package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove psutils

Uninstall psutils And Its Dependencies

To uninstall psutils and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove psutils

Remove psutils Configurations and Data

To remove psutils configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge psutils

Remove psutils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove psutils configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge psutils
