How To Install ps_mem on CentOS 7
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ps_mem on CentOS 7.
What is ps_mem
The ps_mem tool can determine how much RAM is used per program (not per process). In detail it reports sum(private RAM for program processes) + sum(Shared RAM for program processes) The shared RAM is problematic to calculate, and the tool automatically selects the most accurate method available for the running kernel.
We can use yum or dnf to install ps_mem on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install ps_mem.
Install ps_mem on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install ps_mem using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install ps_mem
Install ps_mem on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install ps_mem using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install ps_mem
How To Uninstall ps_mem on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the ps_mem package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove ps_mem
