How To Install proxytunnel on Rocky Linux 8

In this tutorial we learn how to install proxytunnel
on Rocky Linux 8.
What is proxytunnel
ProxyTunnel is a program that connects stdin and stdout to a server somewhere on the network, through a standard HTTPS proxy. We mostly use it to tunnel SSH sessions through HTTP(S) proxies. Proxytunnel can currently do the following * Create tunnels using HTTP and HTTPS proxies (That understand the HTTP CONNECT command). * Work as a back-end driver for an OpenSSH client, and create SSH connections through HTTP(S) proxies. * Work as a stand-alone application, listening on a port for connections, and then tunneling these connections to a specified destination.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install proxytunnel
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install proxytunnel.
Install proxytunnel on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install proxytunnel
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install proxytunnel
Install proxytunnel on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install proxytunnel
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install proxytunnel
How To Uninstall proxytunnel on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the proxytunnel
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove proxytunnel
