How To Install proj-data on Debian 10
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install proj-data
on Debian 10.
What is proj-data
proj-data is:
Proj and invproj perform respective forward and inverse transformation of cartographic data to or from Cartesian data with a wide range of selectable projection functions (over 100 projections).
Geod and invgeod perform geodesic (Great Circle) computations for determining latitude, longitude and back azimuth of a terminus point given a initial point latitude, longitude, azimuth and distance (direct) or the forward and back azimuths and distance between an initial and terminus point latitudes and longitudes (inverse).
This package contains auxiliary projection datum grids used by the library and tools.
There are three methods to install proj-data
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install proj-data Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install proj-data
using apt-get

After updating apt database, We can install proj-data

How To Uninstall proj-data on Debian 10
To uninstall only the proj-data
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove proj-data
Uninstall proj-data And Its Dependencies
To uninstall proj-data
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove proj-data
Remove proj-data Configurations and Data
To remove proj-data
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge proj-data
