How To Install profanity on Ubuntu 18.04

What is profanity
profanity is:
Profanity is a console based instant messaging client for XMPP (Jabber) protocol based chat. It is written in C and ncurses, and is inspired by popular IRC client IRSSI.
Profanity’s features are:

- OTR (off the record) and PGP message encryption.
- Complex roster management with grouping.
- Desktop notifications via libnotify.
- Flexible resource and priority settings.
- Support for colorthemes.
- Support for plugins in C, Python, Ruby, and Lua.
- MUC (multi user chatroom) support.
There are three methods to install profanity on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install profanity Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install profanity using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install profanity

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install profanity using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install profanity
Install profanity Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

How To Uninstall profanity on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall profanity and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove profanity
Remove profanity Configurations and Data
To remove profanity configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge profanity
