How To Install probcons-extra on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install probcons-extra on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is probcons-extra
probcons-extra is:
Contains the convert, project and makgnuplot programs from the probcons package, which have been renamed to pc-compare, pc-project and pc-makegnuplot respectively to avoid collisions with other program names. These programs are mostly useful for testing purposes and are not required for the normal usage of Probcons.
Probcons is a tool for generating multiple alignments of protein sequences.
There are three methods to install probcons-extra on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install probcons-extra Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install probcons-extra using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install probcons-extra

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install probcons-extra using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install probcons-extra
Install probcons-extra Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install probcons-extra using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install probcons-extra
How To Uninstall probcons-extra on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the probcons-extra package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove probcons-extra
Uninstall probcons-extra And Its Dependencies
To uninstall probcons-extra and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove probcons-extra
Remove probcons-extra Configurations and Data
To remove probcons-extra configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge probcons-extra
Remove probcons-extra configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove probcons-extra configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge probcons-extra
