In this tutorial we learn how to install primer3 on CentOS 7. primer3 is PCR primer design tool

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install primer3 on CentOS 7.

What is primer3

Primer3 is a widely used program for designing PCR primers (PCR = “Polymerase Chain Reaction”). PCR is an essential and ubiquitous tool in genetics and molecular biology. Primer3 can also design hybridization probes and sequencing primers. PCR is used for many different goals. Consequently, primer3 has many different input parameters that you control and that tell primer3 exactly what characteristics make good primers for your goals.

We can use yum or dnf to install primer3 on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install primer3.

Install primer3 on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.
